New generation LED retrofit for street lighting

p> Since 2009, Helecta GmbH has been offering an LED-based retrofit alternative that merely entails replacing the lamp and whereby an LED lamp with 27W connected load can replace conventional mercury lamps of up to 80W with a connected load of approx. 95W including ballast. These LED lamps with E27 base (E40 optional) are screwed into the luminaire instead of the mercury or sodium lamp and the ballast is bridged. This allows existing luminaires to continue to be used, plus which the original light distribution essentially remains unchanged.

These Helecta lamps are already successfully in use to their thousands all over Germany. And this in all types of luminaires, be they case luminaires, or mushroom-shaped luminaires along roads, in car parks, along paths and in parks.

Due to customer requests for lamps of this type in different output versions, Helecta GmbH started developing additional new versions last year. As a result, 2 completely reworked and patented LED lamps, which are smaller and lighter than our 27W type, are now available in a 22W power version (replacement for 50-80W HQL) and a 33W power version (replacement for 125W HQL).

Due to their smaller diameter the lamps can now also be used in post-top mounted luminaires with ring reflector, thereby benefiting from their improved light control.

Both versions are manufactured by Helecta GmbH in Sittensen, and have been supplied in units since December 2011 (22W) and the second quarter of 2012 (33W).

The low investments mean that procurement and retrofitting of the lamps are paid off within approx. 2 years through energy savings alone, at an average burn time of 8 hours/day. Additional savings are achieved through reduced maintenance costs for replacement and cleaning.
